Kitchener survives Waterloo comeback, wins 3-2

The Kitchener Dutchmen survived a determined comeback attempt by the Waterloo Siskins on the way to a 3-2 win.

A goal by Philip Moser put Kitchener up 3-1 in the second period, but Waterloo pulled to within one on Ryan Taylor's tally 17:39 into the third period.

The Dutchmen were sparked by Moser, who finished with one goal. Moser scored 16:44 into the second period to make the score Kitchener. Mac Nichol provided the assist.

Kitchener's offense rang up 35 shots on the Siskins' net.

Others who scored for Kitchener included Mitchell Smith and Jacob Cascagnette, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Alex Demrovsky, Keli Grant, Dylan Bursey, and Adam Kawelic(APM), who each chipped in one.

Waterloo managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Siskins wound up below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game.

Waterloo was helped by Danny Hanlon, who registered one goal. Hanlon scored 19:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Waterloo. Evan Kearns picked up the assist. More assists for Waterloo came via Mitch Atkins, who had one and Matthew Mah, who had two.

The Dutchmen's Marc Williams stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Kitchener avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of one power plays. Leo Lazarev made 32 saves for the Siskins on 35 shots. Waterloo registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities.
