A stellar performance between the pipes by Knick Dawe helped the St. Catharines Falcons defeat the Welland Jr. Canadians, 4-1. St. Catharines pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 27 penalty minutes. The Falcons were paced by Aaron Taylor, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Taylor scored 18:30 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Catharines. Mark Rodgers assisted on the tally. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:03 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. St. Catharines kept Welland's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jeffrey Heartwell made 29 saves on 33 shots. St. Catharines additionally got points from Tommy Barszcz, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Rodgers, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. St. Catharines also got a goal from Brandon Cercone as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Catharines were Broderick Kelly, Kyle Woodhouse, Zach Bishop, and Ryan Doucette, who each chipped in one. Welland was led by Matt Cuglietta, who scored the team's only goal. Cuglietta scored on the power play 1:14 into the third period to make the score 3-1 St. Catharines. The Jr. Canadians had gotten the advantage when St. Catharines' Brad Col was sent off for head contact. Gabe Ruggi provided the assist. Dawe recorded 42 saves for the Falcons. St. Catharines registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. For the Falcons, Woodhouse was ejected from the game. Welland totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play. The Jr. Canadians ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matthew Mateljan was ejected from the game.
