Brown nets hat trick, leads Caledonia to 5-3 win over ThoroldHaldimand Center Sat, Jan 11, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Cody Brown lifted the Caledonia Corvairs to a 5-3 victory with a hat trick against the Thorold Blackhawks. Brown's first goal came 8:47 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:04 into the third and at 19:56 into the third.Thorold's power play was ineffective against Caledonia's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Corvairs' offense rang up 38 shots on the Blackhawks' net. Caledonia was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to one goal off of nine man advantages. Caledonia also had goals scored by Spencer Gourlay and Connor Patton, who scored one goal each. More assists for Caledonia came via Jayme Forslund, Colin Furlong, and Kyler Nixon, who contributed one a piece and Connor Murphy and Matt Quilty, who each chipped in two. Thorold was helped by Carl Greco, who finished with one goal. Greco scored 11:56 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Joe Mitchell picked up the assist. Others who scored for Thorold included Liam VanBuren and Owen Sobchak, who each put in one. In addition, Thorold received assists from Zach McQuade, who had one and Kevin Lavoie, who had three. Colin Furlong made 25 saves for the Corvairs on 28 shots. Caledonia incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Brendan Polasek rejected 33 shots on goal for the Blackhawks. Thorold incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
