St. Catharines holds on for 5-3 win against AncasterMorgan Firestone Sat, Jan 11, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Ancaster Avalanche tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the St. Catharines Falcons would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-3. A goal by Brennan Feasey put St. Catharines up 5-2 in the second period, but Ancaster pulled to within two on Zach Niemanen's tally 5:49 into the third period. The Falcons got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. St. Catharines was helped by Dilan Walker, who registered one goal. Walker scored 52 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Catharines. Yanni Rallis assisted on the tally. St. Catharines also had goals scored by Kyle Woodhouse, Brandon Cercone, and Cam Blakely, who scored one goal each. More assists for St. Catharines came via Broderick Kelly, who had two and Aaron Taylor, Ryan Doucette, Nigel Slade, Mitch Bursey, Tommy Barszcz, and Mark Rodgers, who contributed one a piece. Ancaster additionally got points from Christopher Klack, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Ancaster also got a goal from Dustin Chenier as well. In addition, Ancaster received assists from Eric Eustace, Luke Zupan, Max Balinson, and Ryan Lewis, who each chipped in one. The Falcons' Knick Dawe stopped 26 shots out of the 29 that he faced. St. Catharines incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Avalanche took out Braydon Banitsiotis after he had made 20 saves and installed Matt Calas in goal, where he finished with one save and the loss.
