xChatham beats xStrathroy 7-0 as Brothers gets hat trick

Kyle Brothers netted a hat trick to lead the xChatham Maroons over the xStrathroy Rockets, 7-0.

Brothers' first goal came 3:26 into the first period. He then added goals at 6:47 into the second and at 14:32 into the second.

xChatham was boosted by Jacob Keogh, who turned in a shutout with 36 saves. Keogh certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.43 entering the contest.

xStrathroy was unable to stop the Maroons from sending pucks towards the net, and xChatham eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. The Maroons got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

xChatham also got points from Jared Dennis, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Steven Szekesy, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for xChatham included Nate Pietens and James McEwen (APM), who each put in one. In addition, xChatham received assists from Trevor Richardson and Michael Levesque, who each chipped in one and Connor Annett, Michael Verboom, Tanner Ferguson, and Adam Arseneault, who contributed two a piece.

The Rockets forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 10 minors and one major for 75 minutes in penalty time. xStrathroy surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. The Rockets did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. xStrathroy puts an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game. The Rockets' offense rang up 36 shots on xChatham's net.

The Maroons totaled 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 3-for-7 on the power play. xChatham ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Oliver Blayne was ejected from the game. Tynan Lauziere recorded 35 saves for xStrathroy. The Rockets registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. For xStrathroy, Tyler Coleman was ejected from the game.
