The xLondon Nationals beat the xLaSalle Vipers, 2-0, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

A goal 7:50 into the the first period by Chris Maton proved to be the game winner, and powered xLondon to the victory Drew Worrad picked up the assist.

The Nationals were boosted by Liam Herbst, who turned in a shutout with 32 saves. The solid play of Herbst will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.86.

xLondon was led by Maton, who finished with one goal.

The Nationals' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three xLaSalle power plays. xLaSalle was unable to stop xLondon from sending pucks towards the net, and the Nationals eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Jonathan Sims also scored for xLondon. In addition, xLondon received assists from Ryan Shipley, who had one.

The Vipers' offense operated below they season average. xLaSalle averages 4.6 goals per game. The Vipers' offense rang up 32 shots on xLondon's net.

The Nationals incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Paolo Battisti recorded 30 saves for xLaSalle. The Vipers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
