Cambridge falls to Guelph in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Guelph Hurricanes' Zach McFadden scored 13 seconds into overtime to beat the Cambridge Winter Hawks, 2-1 (OT).

Guelph was led by goalie Stormer Santana, who finished with 29 saves while allowing one goal. Santana certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.63 entering the contest.

The Hurricanes were paced by McFadden, who registered one goal and one assist.

Guelph's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Cambridge power plays.

Guelph also got points from Craig Martini, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Guelph were Matt Lippa, who had two.

Cambridge stifled the Hurricanes' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Winter Hawks were held below their usual level of production. Cambridge puts an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game. The Winter Hawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 54 minutes in penalties during the game.

Cambridge was led by Malcolm Bilton, who scored the team's only goal. Bilton scored 6:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cambridge.

Guelph incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Hurricanes, Griffin Heitshu was ejected from the game. Lucas Machalski rejected 23 shots on goal for the Winter Hawks.
