Stratford survives Cambridge comeback, wins 4-3

The Stratford Cullitons survived a determined comeback attempt by the Cambridge Winter Hawks on the way to a 4-3 win.

A goal by Mitch Brooks put Stratford up 4-2 in the third period, but Cambridge pulled to within one on Hudson Michaelis's tally 19:26 into the third period.

The Cullitons' penalty kill excelled, as Stratford gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Cullitons stifled the Winter Hawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Stratford forced Cambridge goalie Lucas Machalski to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Stratford also got points from Trevor Sauder, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Stratford included Nathan Templeman and O Brien Shane, who scored one goal each. More assists for Stratford came via Ryker Killins, who had two and Devon Kropf and Dylan Wettlaufer, who contributed one a piece.

Cambridge also had goals scored by Cody Gratton and Jake Moggy, who each put in one. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Malcolm Bilton and Tyler Peters, who each chipped in one.

The Cullitons' Nick Caldwell stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Stratford incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Machalski rejected 30 shots on goal for the Winter Hawks. Cambridge incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
