Courvoisier's hat trick boosts Guelph over Listowel, 9-5

Michael Courvoisier netted a hat trick to lead the Guelph Hurricanes over the Listowel Cyclones, 9-5.

Courvoisier notched his first tally 16:47 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:18 into the second and at 2:44 into the third.

Listowel fell victim to a deadly Guelph power play, which ripped the Cyclones for four goals.

Listowel was unable to stop the Hurricanes from sending pucks towards the net, and Guelph eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Hurricanes surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Guelph averages 3.4 goals per game.

Guelph also got points from Caleb Champagne, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Matt Lippa, who also had one goal and two assists, Patrick Kudla, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Craig Martini, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Dustin Scheer, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Guelph also got a goal from Shawn Rooke as well. Other players who recorded assists for Guelph were Ian Chan, who had two, Zach McFadden, who had three, and Sebastian Stangherlin and Chad Herron, who each chipped in one.

The Cyclones' offense rang up 43 shots on the Hurricanes' net. Listowel's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Cyclones average 2.8 goals per contest. Listowel could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Cyclones were helped by Ray McFalls, who finished with one goal. McFalls scored on the power play 5:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Listowel. Tanner Mighton picked up the assist. Others who scored for Listowel included Ben Shelley, who had two and Chris VanOoteghem and Reid Simmons, who each put in one. More assists for Listowel came via Austin Kovrig and Tim Nauta, who contributed one a piece and Connor Shaw, Mac Nichol, and Derek Elliot, who each chipped in two.

Bradley Van Schubert rejected 38 shots on goal for Guelph. The Hurricanes incurred 42 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Listowel's Tanner Topham stopped 26 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Cyclones registered three goals on nine power play opportunities.
