Brothers nets hat trick, leads Chatham to 8-2 win over St. Marys

Kyle Brothers lifted the Chatham Maroons to an 8-2 victory with a hat trick against the St. Marys Lincolns.

Brothers' first goal came 6:32 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:02 into the second and at 5:54 into the third.

St. Marys was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as Chatham was able to score four times while on the power play.

The Maroons put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Lincolns to score on any of their six power plays. Chatham forced St. Marys goalie Andrew Masters to work between the pipes, taking 54 shots. The Maroons' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Chatham averages 5.1 goals per contest.

Chatham additionally got points from Michael Verboom, who also registered one goal and three assists and Adam Arseneault, who also tallied one goal and four assists to lead the team in points. Chatham also had goals scored by Trevor Richardson, Connor Doran, and Michael Levesque, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Chatham were Tanner Ferguson, who had two and Jared Dennis, Nate Pietens, Steven Szekesy, John Montgomery, and Ian Faubert, who each chipped in one.

The Lincolns were helped by Garrett James, who tallied one goal. James scored 17:07 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Chatham. Rai Diloreto picked up the assist. Ben Kirwin also scored for St. Marys. In addition, St. Marys received assists from Nico Giannantonio and Nathan Smith, who contributed one a piece.

Jacob Keogh recorded 23 saves for the Maroons. Chatham incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. St. Marys' Masters stopped 46 shots out of the 54 that he faced. The Lincolns incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
