Marlott's goals lift Caledonia to 6-2 victory over ThoroldHaldimand Center Sat, Dec 21, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Jeffrey Marlott was all over the ice for the Caledonia Corvairs, as he tallied two goals in Caledonia's 6-2 win over the Thorold Blackhawks. Marlott's tallies came at 13:57 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Caledonia and 2:49 into the third to make the score 4-2 Caledonia.The Corvairs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Thorold to score on any of its four power plays. Caledonia's offense rang up 36 shots on the Blackhawks' net. Caledonia additionally got points from Jordan Peacock, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Caledonia also had goals scored by Connor Patton, Brier Jonathan, and Kyler Nixon, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Caledonia were Matt Quilty, who had one, Cody Brown, who had four, and Connor Murphy, Scott Dorian, and Todd Ratchford, who contributed two a piece. Thorold did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Blackhawks put an average of 4.6 pucks into the net per game. The defense for Thorold tightened up when it had players in the penalty box, as it let in one goal on 12 the Corvairs power plays. The Blackhawks were helped by Joe Mitchell, who grabbed one goal. Mitchell scored 10:40 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Thorold. Christian Difelice provided the assist. Thorold also got a goal from Kevin Lavoie as well. Caledonia's Colin Furlong stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Corvairs incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Caledonia ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jayme Forslund was ejected from the game. Ian Shorthouse made 30 saves for Thorold on 36 shots. The Blackhawks incurred 56 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
