Brothers' hat trick boosts Chatham over St. Marys, 11-1Pyramid Recreation Centre Fri, Dec 20, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Kyle Brothers lifted the Chatham Maroons to an 11-1 victory with a hat trick against the St. Marys Lincolns. Brothers' first goal came 6:22 into the first period. He then added goals at 51 seconds into the second and at 5:02 into the third.Chatham led 5-0 after the opening frame the first period and maintained a healthy margin after. The Maroons' penalty kill excelled, as Chatham gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays. The Maroons made Lincolns' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, getting 35 shots and forcing 24 saves. Andrew Masters made seven stops and Kyle Sephton made 17. Chatham bested its season scoring average. The Maroons average 4.8 goals per game. Chatham additionally got points from Michael Verboom, who also grabbed two goals and three assists, James McEwen (APM), who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Adam Arseneault, who also registered two goals and three assists. Chatham also got a goal from Jared Dennis as well. More assists for Chatham came via Ian Faubert, who had two, Trevor Richardson, who had three, and Connor Annett, Nate Pietens, Steven Szekesy, and Michael Levesque, who each chipped in one. St. Marys found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 14 shots against Chatham's defense. Jacob Keogh rejected 13 shots on goal for the Maroons. Chatham incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For the Maroons, John Montgomery was ejected from the game. The Lincolns incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. St. Marys ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nico Giannantonio was ejected from the game. |
