Nick Boyer gave the Strathroy Rockets the lead in the first period, and the London Nationals was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 3-1. Strathroy took over the lead for good with a goal by Boyer at 4:11 in the first period. The Rockets had gotten the advantage when London's Jeff Bauer was sent off for roughing. Mike Mandarelli picked up the assist.Strathroy's Jack Moylan was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 31 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Moylan will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.09. The Rockets got the win with help from a great game by Mandarelli, who had one goal and two assists. Mandarelli scored on the power play 15:33 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Strathroy. Strathroy had gained a power play chance when Ryan Wells was whistled for interference. Tyler Duarte assisted on the tally. The Rockets' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five London power plays. Strathroy also got points from Boyer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Jack Kilgour also scored for Strathroy. Other players who recorded assists for Strathroy were Tony Belony, who had one. The Nationals did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. London averages 4.2 goals per game. Strathroy was unable to stop the Nationals from sending pucks towards the net, and London eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Penalties took their toll on the Nationals, as their penalty kill unit let in three power play goals. London was led by Austin Kemp, who scored the team's only goal. Kemp scored 12:01 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Strathroy. Scott Lombardi picked up the assist. The Rockets incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jacob Riley recorded 23 saves for the Nationals. London ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. The Nationals ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matt Wildman was ejected from the game.
