LaSalle holds on for 4-2 win against St. Thomas

The LaSalle Vipers survived a determined comeback attempt by the St. Thomas Stars on the way to a 4-2 win.

A goal by Billy Eansor put LaSalle up 4-0 in the second period, but St. Thomas pulled to within two on John Warren's tally 19:22 into the third period.

The Vipers stifled the Stars' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. LaSalle's offense rang up 36 shots on St. Thomas' net. The Vipers struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 24 penalty minutes for four opposing power plays. LaSalle's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

The Vipers were helped by Dylan Denomme, who tallied one goal. Denomme scored 9:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 LaSalle. Bryce Mayea picked up the assist. LaSalle also had goals scored by Austin Hall and Mark Manchurek, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for LaSalle were Nikko Sablone, Rio Anzolin, Blake Jones, Nathan Savage, Daniel Beaudoin, Devon Paliani, and Andrew Burns, who contributed one a piece.

St. Thomas also got a goal from Luc Knight as well. In addition, St. Thomas received assists from Blair Mincer and Austin Ullet, who each chipped in one.

LaSalle's Cameron Zanussi stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Vipers registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Nikolas Dampier made 32 saves for the Stars on 36 shots. St. Thomas incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
