Strathroy blows out LaSalle, 7-1West Middlesex Arena Sat, Dec 14, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Strathroy Rockets were firing on all cylinders against the LaSalle Vipers, and when the final buzzer sounded Rockets emerged with a 7-1 win. Strathroy got the win on the strength of a great game by Nick Boyer, who had two goals and one assist. Boyer scored the first of his two goals at 19:12 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Strathroy. Kurtis Sander picked up the assist. Boyer's next tally made the score 5-1 Strathroy with 7:04 left in the third period. The Rockets had gained a power play chance when Zack Bedard was whistled for fighting (instigator). Shawn Grogan provided the assist. LaSalle was stymied by Strathroy netminder Jack Moylan, who stopped 39 shots during the victory. Moylan managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.37 prior to the game. The Rockets were often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 22.0 minutes per game Strathroy had been spending in the box. The Rockets' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four LaSalle power plays. Strathroy kept the Vipers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Paolo Battisti made 38 saves on 45 shots. Strathroy additionally got points from Mike Mandarelli, who also had two goals and two assists to lead the team in points and Chase Thornton, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Strathroy also had goals scored by Tyler Duarte and Brett Dalton, who each put in one.
