The Thorold Blackhawks tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Port Colborne Pirates would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

Port Colborne made the score 3-1 on a goal by Spencer Fox at 19:59 in the second period, and Thorold got as close as 3-2 when Kevin Lavoie scored 11:03 into the third period.

The Pirates' penalty kill excelled, as Port Colborne gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Port Colborne also got points from Cody Levasseur, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Port Colborne also got a goal from Ryall Ledyard as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Colborne were Charlie Izaguirre, who had two and RJ Sciarrone and Brock Ackerman, who contributed one a piece.

The Blackhawks managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Thorold finished below its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. The Blackhawks were held below their usual level of production. Thorold puts an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game. The Pirates were unable to stop the Blackhawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Thorold eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

The Blackhawks were helped by Kyle Tanev, who finished with one goal. Tanev scored 9:29 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Colborne. Zach McQuade picked up the assist. More assists for Thorold came via Owen Sobchak, Drake Hart, and Kevin Millejours, who each chipped in one.

Port Colborne's Marcus Hlywka stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Pirates incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brendan Polasek recorded 18 saves for Thorold.
