Kitchener rides Williams to victory over Stratford, 3-1

Marc Williams stood on his head and made 31 saves to lead the Kitchener Dutchmen to a 3-1 victory over the Stratford Cullitons.

Kitchener was sparked by Kegan Blasby, who grabbed one goal. Blasby scored 13:12 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Kitchener. Jacob Cascagnette assisted on the tally.

The Dutchmen excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Others who scored for Kitchener included Keli Grant and Connor Cole, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Mitchell Smith and Clayton Greer, who each chipped in one.

Stratford stifled Kitchener's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Cullitons' offense operated below their season average. Stratford averages 3.5 goals per game. The Cullitons' offense rang up 32 shots on the Dutchmen's net. Stratford could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Cullitons were led by Dylan Wettlaufer, who scored the team's only goal. Wettlaufer scored 17:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stratford. Patrick McKelvie picked up the assist.

Kitchener incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Stratford's Michael Pesendorfer stopped 17 shots out of the 19 that he faced.
