LaSalle's Jones deadly on offense in 5-1 win against Leamington

Blake Jones was all over the ice for the LaSalle Vipers, as he tallied two goals in LaSalle's 5-1 win over the Leamington Flyers.

Jones found the back of the net 11:33 into the second period to make the score 2-0 LaSalle and again while 19:05 into the third to make the score 5-1 LaSalle.

The Vipers' penalty kill excelled, as LaSalle gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays.

The Vipers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as LaSalle finished with 38 penalty minutes.

LaSalle also got points from Dylan Denomme, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Aaron Luchuk, who also registered one goal and one assist. Daniel Beaudoin also scored for LaSalle. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Mark Manchurek, who had two and Nathan Savage, Devon Paliani, and Andrew Burns, who each chipped in one.

Leamington could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Flyers put an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. Leamington forced the Vipers goalie Cameron Zanussi to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

The Flyers were led by Alex Friesen, who scored the team's only goal. Friesen scored on the power play 15:42 into the third period to make the score 3-1 LaSalle. Leamington earned a power play opportunity when Paliani was put in the box for slashing. Kyle Shaw picked up the assist.

Zanussi recorded 41 saves for LaSalle. The Vipers registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For LaSalle, Nikko Sablone and Brendan McCann were ejected from the contest. The Flyers' Trevor Wheaton stopped 24 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Leamington incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
