Kitchener downs Listowel in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Sun, Dec 08, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Brett Clampitt gave the Kitchener Dutchmen a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Listowel Cyclones when he scored 1:03 into the extra period. Kitchener came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Dutchmen trailed 2-0 after a goal by Listowel's Sam Harris at 18:20 in the first period. Kitchener knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Ted Nichol at 13:23 in the third period. The Dutchmen was paced on offense by Keli Grant and Clampitt, who combined for five points. Grant registered two goals and Clampitt also added one goal and two assists. Kitchener's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Dutchmen average 1.7 goal allowed per game. Kitchener additionally got points from Clampitt, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Kitchener also had goals scored by Philip Moser and Clayton Greer, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Mitchell Smith, Kegan Blasby, Jordan Delaurier, Ty Learn, John Divo, and Connor Cole(APM), who each chipped in one. The Cyclones were helped by Derek Elliot, who finished with two goals and one assist. Elliot scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 9:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Listowel. Listowel had gained a power play chance when Adam Kawelic(APM) was whistled for cross checking. Blake Nichol picked up the assist. Elliot's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 18:45 left in the third period. Ben Shelley provided the assist. In addition, Listowel received assists from Connor Shaw, who had one. Marc Williams made 25 saves for Kitchener on 29 shots. The Dutchmen totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For Kitchener, Clampitt was ejected from the game. Daniel Dekoning recorded 22 saves for the Cyclones. Listowel incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
