Elmira downs Guelph in overtime, 3-2 (OT)Sleeman Centre Sat, Dec 07, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Brad Kobryn gave the Elmira Sugar Kings a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Guelph Hurricanes when he scored 2:09 into the extra period. Elmira was led by Kobryn, who tallied one goal. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 11:01 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. Guelph was unable to stop the Sugar Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Elmira eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Elmira also had goals scored by Adam Campagnolo and Brett Parsons, who scored one goal each. In addition, Elmira received assists from Rob Kohli, who had two and Alex Mutton, Steven Jakiela, and Jaden Goetz(APJ), who each chipped in one. The Hurricanes put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Sugar Kings to score on any of their three power plays. Guelph was helped by Chad Herron, who racked up one goal. Herron scored 8:41 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Guelph. Jordan Hatzinger provided the assist. Guelph also got a goal from Michael Courvoisier as well. Other players who recorded assists for Guelph were Matt Lippa, Patrick Kudla, and Craig Martini, who contributed one a piece. Elmira's Hayden Neuman stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Sugar Kings ended with 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors. Team's David Savery and Mitch Klie were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Stormer Santana made 39 saves for the Hurricanes on 42 shots. Guelph totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For the Hurricanes, Sam Natale APJ was ejected from the game.
