Cambridge beats Listowel 6-0 as Machalski gains shutout

The Cambridge Winter Hawks used a sparkling performance by Lucas Machalski to take down the Listowel Cyclones, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Cambridge's 6-0 shutout victory.

Adam Dauda had a great game for the Winter Hawks, netting two goals. Dauda scored at 31 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cambridge and again while on the power play 7:35 into the third to make the score 4-0 Cambridge.

Cambridge stifled Listowel's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Winter Hawks bested their season scoring average. Cambridge averages 3.3 goals per game.

Cambridge also got points from Alex Bottigoni, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Matt Pinder, who also had one goal and one assist, and Tyler Peters, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cameron Pentsa also scored for Cambridge. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Brandon Plourde, Cody Gratton, Jake Moggy, Maxime Lamontagne, Malcolm Bilton, and Hudson Michaelis, who each chipped in one.

The Cyclones did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Listowel puts an average of 2.7 pucks into the net per game. The Cyclones kept the Winter Hawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Machalski made 34 saves on 34 shots.

Cambridge incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Listowel's Daniel Dekoning stopped 22 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Cyclones incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Listowel ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mac Nichol was ejected from the game.
