Dampier, St. Thomas blank St. Marys, 3-0

Nick Dampier was superb between the pipes for the St. Thomas Stars, as he did not allow a goal in a 3-0 victory over the St. Marys Lincolns.

St. Thomas was sparked by Alex Morgan, who had one goal. Morgan scored 19:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Thomas. Matt Simsons picked up the assist.

The Stars excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. St. Thomas kept St. Marys' goalie busy throughout the game, and Connor Hughes made 35 saves on 38 shots.

St. Thomas additionally got points from Simsons, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. John Warren also scored for St. Thomas. Other players who recorded assists for St. Thomas were Lucas Triemstra, Brett Van Dusen, Braden Hellems, and Aiden Jamieson, who each chipped in one.

The Lincolns put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Stars to score on any of their six power plays. St. Marys was held below its usual level of production. The Lincolns put an average of 2.2 pucks into the net per game. St. Thomas was unable to stop St. Marys from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lincolns eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Dampier recorded 31 saves for the Stars. St. Thomas incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. St. Marys incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
