St. Catharines holds on for 5-3 win against Port Colborne

The Port Colborne Pirates tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the St. Catharines Falcons held on for a 5-3 victory.

St. Catharines made the score 5-1 on a goal by Yanni Rallis at 4:57 in the third period, and Port Colborne got as close as 5-3 when Charlie Izaguirre scored 19:09 into the third period.

Brennan Feasey had two goals to lead the Falcons to victory. Feasey's tallies came at 6:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Catharines and on the power play 9:36 into the first to make the score 2-0 St. Catharines.

St. Catharines made the Pirates' goaltenders to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots and forcing 41 saves. Mitchell Knight made 16 stops and Marcus Hlywka made 25. The Falcons could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

St. Catharines additionally got points from Rallis, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. St. Catharines also got a goal from Sam Berg as well. More assists for St. Catharines came via Kyle Woodhouse, who had two, Aaron Taylor, who had three, and Ryan Doucette, Nigel Slade, Mitch Bursey, and Dilan Walker, who each chipped in one.

In addition, Port Colborne received assists from James Mewse-Detrich, who had three and Cody Mintz, Joe Dagostino, and Brock Ackerman, who contributed one a piece.

Jonathon D Ilario recorded 23 saves for St. Catharines. The Falcons registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Port Colborne incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
