The Thorold Blackhawks tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the St. Catharines Falcons would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2. St. Catharines took a 3-1 lead during the first period, only to have Thorold storm back on a Chris Goulet goal 19:11 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Falcons were paced by Aaron Taylor, who tallied one goal. Taylor scored 18:28 into the first period to make the score St. Catharines. Yanni Rallis provided the assist. St. Catharines excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Blackhawks were unable to stop the Falcons from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Catharines eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. The Falcons were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 24 penalty minutes. St. Catharines also had goals scored by Tyler Jackson and Sam Berg, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for St. Catharines were Mitch Bursey, who had two and Broderick Kelly, Kyle Woodhouse, and Kevin Guzzo, who each chipped in one. Thorold racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 11 minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Blackhawks had been averaging 22.0 minutes in penalties per game. Thorold did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Blackhawks average 4.9 goals per game. Thorold forced St. Catharines goalie Knick Dawe to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Thorold also got a goal from Owen Sobchak as well. In addition, Thorold received assists from Matt Pizzo, Kevin Lavoie, Joe Mitchell, and Zach McQuade, who contributed one a piece. Dawe rejected 30 shots on goal for the Falcons. St. Catharines registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. For the Falcons, Jackson and Rallis were ejected from the contest. The Blackhawks' Brendan Polasek stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. For Thorold, Ryan Sarris was ejected from the game.
