Curran's big game bests Fort Erie in 7-4 Niagara Falls winGale Centre Fri, Nov 29, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Niagara Falls Canucks' Johnny Curran had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing three assists in his team's 7-4 win over the Fort Erie Meteors. Curran beat Matt Baker with a shot 6:27 into the second period to make the score 4-0 Niagara Falls. Curran dished an assist on Denis Creighton's goal that made the score 1-0 Niagara Falls at 15:21 into the first period. He then added assists on Vittorio Giannico's goal at 2:26 into the third and on Nolan Dunn's goal at 7:12 into the third.Niagara Falls made Fort Erie's goalies to work without much rest, ripping 40 shots and forcing 33 saves. Baker made 14 stops and Brett Gilmour made 19. The Canucks found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Niagara Falls has scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign. Niagara Falls also got points from Dunn, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Giannico, who also had one goal and one assist. Niagara Falls also had goals scored by Matthew Mannella, MacKenzie Wood, and Tory McLean, who each put in one. In addition, Niagara Falls received assists from Chris Harpur, Cole Vinnai, Mitch McIntosh, Frank Nemeth, Marcus Michalski, Spencer Leenders, and Dylan Savory, who each chipped in one. The Canucks were unable to stop the Meteors from sending pucks towards the net, and Fort Erie eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. The Meteors were helped by Jesse Pereira, who registered two goals. Pereira scored the first of his two goals at 10:52 into the third period to make the score 7-3 Niagara Falls. Austin Carroll provided the assist. Pereira's next tally made the score 7-4 Niagara Falls with 3:43 left in the third period. Jared Marino picked up the assist. Others who scored for Fort Erie included Jack Webb and Carson Johnstone, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Erie were Richard DeMarco, who had two and Josh Micallef, Bryce Biller, and Nik Passero, who contributed one a piece. Dylan Pietrangelo made 35 saves for Niagara Falls on 39 shots. The Canucks totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Team's Savory and Billy Saxton were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Fort Erie totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For the Meteors, Passero was ejected from the game.
