Waterloo boosted by Hergott's play in net, beats Brampton 3-1

Ryan Hergott stood on his head and made 28 saves to lead the Waterloo Siskins to a 3-1 victory over the Brampton Bombers.

Brampton's power play was ineffective against Waterloo's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Siskins were led by Connor Bodnar, who registered one goal. Bodnar scored 11:13 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Waterloo. Jarrett Parker assisted on the tally.

Waterloo also had goals scored by Evan Buehler and Ryan Taylor, who scored one goal each. In addition, Waterloo received assists from Nick Hirst, Troy Lajeunesse, Christian Mroczkowski, Luke Gazzola, and Andrew Brubacher, who each chipped in one.

The Bombers were led by Eric DiCarlo, who scored the team's only goal. DiCarlo scored on the power play 9:27 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brampton had gained a power play chance when Buehler was whistled for high sticking. Brandon Clelland provided the assist.

Waterloo incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Bombers' Scott Patton stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Brampton ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Bombers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brad Sheppard was ejected from the game.
