Leamington rolls over St. Thomas, 5-1

The Leamington Flyers had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the St. Thomas Stars.

Dylan Seguin was all over the ice for Leamington, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Seguin scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 14:11 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Leamington. The Flyers had gotten the advantage when St. Thomas' Brett Van Dusen was sent off for tripping. Tony Spidalieri picked up the assist. Seguin's next tally on the power play made the score 5-1 Leamington with 5:44 left in the third period. Alex Seguin assisted on the tally.

The Stars were stymied by Leamington netminder Austyn Roudebush, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. The solid play of Roudebush will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.14.

The Flyers stifled St. Thomas' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Leamington forced the Stars goalie Jackson McIntosh to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Leamington also got points from Seguin, who also had one goal and one assist and Spidalieri, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Leamington also got a goal from Kyle Quick as well. In addition, Leamington received assists from Nathan Opblinger, who had two and J.P. Grineau, David Dalby, and Chris Scott, who contributed one a piece.

St. Thomas could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Stars average 3.3 goals per game. St. Thomas struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Flyers to score two power play goals on three chances.

The Stars were led by Luc Knight, who scored the team's only goal. Knight scored 10:43 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Josh Coyle(APM) picked up the assist.

Leamington ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. The Flyers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Quick was ejected from the game. St. Thomas' McIntosh stopped 27 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Stars incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
