Kitchener shrugs off penalties, upends Brantford, 4-1

The Kitchener Dutchmen, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the Brantford 99ers' power play opportunities and emerged with a 4-1 victory.

Kitchener was led by Connor Cole(APM), who racked up one goal. Cole(APM) scored short handed 11:38 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kitchener. The Dutchmen were on a disadvantage when Brett Clampitt went off the ice for abuse of officials. Alex Demrovsky provided the assist.

Kitchener forced Brantford goalie Marcus Del Conte to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

Kitchener also got points from Mitchell Smith, who also had one goal and one assist. Kitchener also got a goal from Ty Learn as well. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Kyle Ellis, Philip Moser, Jordan Delaurier, Clayton Greer, and John Divo, who contributed one a piece.

The 99ers were led by Mitch Atkins, who scored the team's only goal. Atkins scored on the power play 16:46 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brantford earned a power play opportunity when Ellis was put in the box for interference. Leonard Dziemianko assisted on the tally.

Marc Williams rejected 22 shots on goal for the Dutchmen. Kitchener incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Dutchmen ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mitchell Dempsy was ejected from the game. Marcus Del Conte made 40 saves for the 99ers on 44 shots. Brantford incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the 99ers, Cole Cummings was ejected from the game.
