London rolls over LaSalle, 5-2

The London Nationals had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the LaSalle Vipers.

LaSalle's power play was ineffective against London's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Nationals were paced by Tristen Elie, who had one goal. Elie scored 15:08 into the second period to make the score 3-1 London. Keaton Ratcliffe provided the assist.

London was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 34 penalty minutes.

London additionally got points from Austin Kemp, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Chris Maton, who also registered one goal and one assist. London also had goals scored by Ryan Tuffin and Scott Lombardi, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for London were Drew Worrad, who had two and Matt Fuller, Kyle L Robinson, Ryan Shipley, and Matt Wildman, who each chipped in one.

The Vipers' offense operated below they season average. LaSalle averages 4.9 goals per game.

The Vipers were led by Zack Percy, who racked up one goal. Percy scored on the power play 5:12 into the second period to make the score 2-1 London. An interference penalty on Jeff Bauer had put LaSalle on the power play. Nathan Savage assisted on the tally. Nathan Veres also scored for LaSalle. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Billy Eansor, Mark Manchurek, and Daniel Beaudoin, who contributed one a piece.

Jacob Riley recorded 22 saves for the Nationals. London registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For the Nationals, Ryan Wells was ejected from the game. The Vipers' Cameron Zanussi stopped 21 shots out of the 26 that he faced. LaSalle incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
