The game between the Fort Erie Meteors and the Buffalo Regals was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Fort Erie emerged with a 3-2 win. The Meteors gained the winning advantage on a goal by Jesse Pereira 18:16 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Fort Erie's penalty kill excelled, as the Meteors gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays. In a losing effort, Buffalo was paced by Christopher Moses, who had two goals. Moses scored the first of his two goals at 15:42 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Fort Erie. Moses' next tally made the score 2-2 with 16:43 left in the third period. Michael Faliero picked up the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 17:53 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Fort Erie penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 11 minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The Meteors had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game. Fort Erie stifled the Regals' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Buffalo was unable to stop the Meteors from sending pucks towards the net, and Fort Erie eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Fort Erie additionally got points from Carson Johnstone, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Kyle Marino also scored for Fort Erie. More assists for Fort Erie came via Jared Marino, who had two and Mike Boles and Nik Passero, who contributed one a piece. Brett Gilmour rejected 25 shots on goal for the Meteors. Fort Erie registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For the Meteors, Josh Micallef was ejected from the game. The Regals' Ian Sylves *AP stopped 34 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Buffalo ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. The Regals ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Colin Farell was ejected from the game.
