Kitchener uses shootout to best Stratford, 2-1 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Kitchener Dutchmen defeated the Stratford Cullitons in a shootout 2-1 (2-1 SO).

The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout. Stratford got a shootout goal from Brett Heaman. In addition to the clincher, Kitchener got a shootout goal from Brett Clampitt.

The Dutchmen were led by goalie Marc Williams, who finished with 32 saves while allowing one goal. Williams managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.57 prior to the game.

Kitchener kept the Cullitons' goalie busy throughout the game, and Nick Caldwell made 29 saves on 31 shots.

The Dutchmen were led by Clayton Greer, who had one goal. Greer scored on the power play 10:18 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Kitchener. Kitchener had gotten the advantage when Stratford's O Brien Shane was sent off for cross checking. Clampitt provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Keegan Calder, who had one.

The Cullitons could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Stratford averages 3.3 goals per game. The Cullitons forced the Dutchmen goalie Williams to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Stratford was led by Trevor Sauder, who scored the team's only goal. Sauder scored on the power play 1:01 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Ryker Killins assisted on the tally.

Kitchener incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Cullitons incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
