Waterloo holds on for 4-3 win against Cambridge

The Cambridge Winter Hawks tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Waterloo Siskins would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

A goal by Troy Lajeunesse put Waterloo up 4-2 in the second period, but Cambridge pulled to within one on Cameron Pentsa's tally 4:39 into the third period.

The Siskins were led by Lajeunesse, who registered one goal. Lajeunesse scored 7:31 into the second period to make the score Waterloo. Evan Kearns provided the assist.

Waterloo's offense rang up 38 shots on the Winter Hawks' net.

Waterloo also got points from Kearns, who also had one goal and one assist and Evan Buehler, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Waterloo also got a goal from Christian Mroczkowski as well. More assists for Waterloo came via Nick Hirst, Eric Cimino, Michael Mantenuto, Andrew Brubacher, Ryan Taylor, and Danny Hanlon, who each chipped in one.

Cambridge kept the Siskins' goalie busy throughout the game, and Leo Lazarev made 39 saves on 42 shots.

The Winter Hawks were led by Hudson Michaelis, who finished with one goal and one assist. Michaelis scored 18:00 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Cambridge. Pentsa picked up the assist. Cambridge additionally got points from Pentsa, who also registered one goal and one assist. Alex Bottigoni also scored for Cambridge. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Kalob Witzell, who had two and Marcellis Subban and Matt Pinder, who contributed one a piece.
