Brampton falls to Guelph after surprising comebackSleeman Centre Sat, Nov 23, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Guelph Hurricanes rallied from two goals down to secure a 5-4 win over the Brampton Bombers. Guelph let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Hurricanes took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by Chad Herron at 5:22 in the first period. Guelph went down 3-1 after Brampton's Chris Maione put the puck home at 15:47 in the first period. After tying things up at 4-4 on a goal by Tyler Simmons at 14:24 in the third, the Hurricanes got the game-winner from Ian Chan at 17:34 in the third period. Craig Martini had a great game for Guelph, netting two goals. Martini scored at 2:57 into the second period to make the score 3-3 and again while on the power play 14:37 into the second to make the score 4-3 Guelph. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:24 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. Guelph additionally got points from Matt Lippa, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Guelph were Ryan Migliaccio, who had two and Jake Wyse, Corey Flemington (APM), Lawrence Pagnan, Zach McFadden, and Lucas Pozzobon(APM), who each chipped in one. The Bombers kept the Hurricanes' goalie busy throughout the game, and Bradley Van Schubert made 27 saves on 31 shots. Brampton was helped by Brad Bollert, who finished with one goal and one assist. Bollert scored 13:45 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Brampton. Lucas Goodman (APM) assisted on the tally. Brampton also got points from Simmons, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Phil Caputo also scored for Brampton. In addition, Brampton received assists from Cameron Cruickshank, Jason Smith, Brad Sheppard, Greg Wilson, and Brandon Clelland, who contributed one a piece. Guelph totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. Team's Flemington (APM) and Sam Natale APJ were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Bryan Raymond made 25 saves for the Bombers on 30 shots. Brampton totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For the Bombers, Mark Shoemaker and Beau Goehrum were ejected from the contest.
