Cambridge's comeback falls short, Listowel wins 4-3

The Listowel Cyclones, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Listowel and clinched a 4-3 victory.

The Cyclones led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Listowel's Derek Elliot's scored at 2:56 in the second period to put the Cyclones up 3-0.

Elliot had a great game for Listowel, netting two goals.

In a losing effort, the Cambridge Winter Hawks were led by Adam Dauda, who finished with two goals. Dauda scored the first of his two goals at 12:04 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Listowel. Jordan Chard provided the assist. Dauda's next tally made the score 4-3 Listowel with 6:52 left in the third period. Cambridge had gotten the advantage when the Cyclones' Ted Nichol was sent off for high sticking. Tyler Peters picked up the assist.

Listowel forced the Winter Hawks' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 36 shots and forcing 32 saves. Darren Huck made 21 stops and Jacob Keogh made 11. Team could not crack Cambridge's penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having 12 opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Listowel also had goals scored by Sam Harris and Ben Shelley, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Listowel were Ray McFalls, Blake Nichol, Tanner Mighton, and Chad Lemire, who contributed one a piece.

The Winter Hawks forced the Cyclones goalie Daniel Dekoning to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Cambridge's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Winter Hawks finished with 38 penalty minutes.

Cambridge also got a goal from Cameron Pentsa as well. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Marcellis Subban, Devin Shell, and Matt Pinder, who each chipped in one.

Dekoning rejected 31 shots on goal for Listowel. The Cyclones incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cambridge registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
