Listowel vanquishes Brantford in shootout, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Listowel Cyclones defeated the Brantford 99ers in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for five attempts between the teams.

Listowel's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Brantford power plays. The Cyclones' offense rang up 41 shots on Brantford's net.

Listowel was led by Ray McFalls, who grabbed one goal and one assist. McFalls scored 11:44 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Listowel. Tanner Mighton provided the assist. Listowel also got a goal from Chris VanOoteghem as well. More assists for Listowel came via Kevin Gergley, who had one.

The 99ers kept the Cyclones' goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Dekoning made 42 saves on 44 shots.

Brantford was helped by Mitch Atkins, who racked up one goal. Atkins scored 15:34 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Brandon Versamy assisted on the tally. Guy Polillo also scored for Brantford. In addition, Brantford received assists from Kevin Fitzpatrick, John Nay, and Nathan Bastian, who each chipped in one.

Listowel incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Marcus Del Conte rejected 38 shots on goal for the 99ers. Brantford incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
