Boyer leads Strathroy over St. Marys, 4-1

Nick Boyer had two goals and one assist to lead the Strathroy Rockets to a 4-1 victory over the St. Marys Lincolns.

Boyer found the back of the net 17:26 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 16:02 into the second to make the score 2-1 Strathroy.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 2:33 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Strathroy kept St. Marys' goalie busy throughout the game, and Connor Hughes made 43 saves on 47 shots.

Strathroy additionally got points from Tyler Duarte, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Shawn Grogan, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Strathroy received assists from Mike Mandarelli, who had two and Matt Lebert, Chase Thornton, and Wes Baker, who contributed one a piece.

The Lincolns forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 51 minutes in penalty time. St. Marys had been averaging 25.0 minutes in penalties per game.

The Lincolns were led by Rai Diloreto, who scored the team's only goal. Diloreto scored 10:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Marys. Ocean Check assisted on the tally.

Tynan Lauziere made 14 saves for the Rockets on 15 shots. Strathroy totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 2-for-7 on the power play. For the Rockets, Thornton was ejected from the game. St. Marys registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. The Lincolns ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mitch Read was ejected from the game.
