Niemanen's hat trick boosts Ancaster over Fort Erie, 6-0

Zach Niemanen netted a hat trick to lead the Ancaster Avalanche over the Fort Erie Meteors, 6-0.

Niemanen's first goal came 7:18 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:55 into the third and at 17:04 into the third.

Braydon Banitsiotis spearheaded the defensive effort for Ancaster, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 34 saves for the shutout. Banitsiotis certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.84 entering the contest.

The Avalanche put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Fort Erie to score on any of its six power plays. Ancaster found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Avalanche average 3.6 goals per contest.

Ancaster also had goals scored by Eric Eustace, Luke Zupan, and Brett Farrelly, who scored one goal each. In addition, Ancaster received assists from Jake Bain, who had two, Harrison Domagala, who had three, and Dustin Chenier, Alex Panov, Blake Luscombe, Ryan Knill, and Marcus Baird, who contributed one a piece.

The Meteors did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Fort Erie averages 3.0 goals per game. The Meteors' offense rang up 34 shots on Ancaster's net.

The Avalanche incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Ancaster ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Lewis was ejected from the game. Brett Gilmour recorded 22 saves for Fort Erie. The Meteors incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
