Leamington rides Roudebush to victory over London, 3-1

The Leamington Flyers relied on the sparkling performance of Austyn Roudebush in net to grab a 3-1 win against the London Nationals.

London's power play was ineffective against Leamington's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Flyers were paced by Alex Friesen, who had one goal. Friesen scored on the power play 16:33 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Leamington. Leamington had gotten the advantage when the Nationals' Derek Todosichuk was sent off for too many men. Nathan Opblinger picked up the assist.

The Flyers kept London's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jacob Riley made 30 saves on 33 shots. Leamington was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 32 penalty minutes.

Leamington also had goals scored by Colin Moore and Dylan Seguin, who each put in one. More assists for Leamington came via Blaine Bechard, Alex Seguin, Chris Scott, and Graham Kelsey, who contributed one a piece.

The Nationals could not produce up to they normal offensive output. London averages 4.4 goals per game. The Flyers were unable to stop the Nationals from sending pucks towards the net, and London eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. The Nationals found themselves short handed often, totaling 27 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays.

London was led by Matt Fuller, who scored the team's only goal. Fuller scored on the power play 6:35 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Nationals earned a power play opportunity when Mitchell Amante was put in the box for holding stick. Jeff Bauer provided the assist.

Austyn Roudebush made 33 saves for Leamington on 34 shots. For London, Chris Maton and Bauer were ejected from the contest.
