Kitchener survives Guelph comeback, wins 3-2Kinsmen Arena Tue, Nov 19, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Guelph Hurricanes tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Kitchener Dutchmen would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2. Kitchener made the score 2-0 on a goal by Kyle Ellis at 17:13 in the second period, and Guelph got as close as 2-1 when Matt Lippa scored 3:58 into the third period. The Dutchmen were paced by Dylan Bursey, who registered one goal. Bursey scored 17:23 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Kitchener. Mitchell Dempsy provided the assist. The Hurricanes were unable to stop Kitchener from sending pucks towards the net, and the Dutchmen eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Kitchener also got a goal from Keegan Calder as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Adam Kawelic(APM), who had two and Mitchell Smith and John Divo, who contributed one a piece. Guelph kept Kitchener's goalie busy throughout the game, and Marc Williams made 39 saves on 41 shots. More assists for Guelph came via Craig Martini and Ryan Migliaccio, who each chipped in two. The Dutchmen incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Stormer Santana made 28 saves for the Hurricanes on 31 shots. Guelph totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. The Hurricanes ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matt Nightingale was ejected from the game.
