Caledonia downs Welland in overtime, 4-3 (OT)Welland Arena Sun, Nov 17, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Cody Brown gave the Caledonia Corvairs a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Welland Jr. Canadians when he scored 3:55 into the extra period. Brown was all over the ice for Caledonia, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. The Corvairs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Welland was unable to stop Caledonia from sending pucks towards the net, and the Corvairs eventually piled up 54 shots on goal. Connor Murphy also scored for Caledonia. More assists for Caledonia came via Connor Patton and Cosimo Fontana, who each chipped in one and Ryan Moran and Kyler Nixon, who contributed two a piece. The Jr. Canadians' offense rang up 38 shots on Caledonia's net. Welland was helped by Miller Hatten, who grabbed one goal. Hatten scored 18:52 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Jonathan Goldsworthy picked up the assist. Welland additionally got points from Adam Mataya, who also registered one goal and one assist and Jack Fitzgerald, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Welland received assists from Tanner Allen, who had one and Matthew Mateljan, who had two. Colin Furlong recorded 35 saves for the Corvairs. Caledonia incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Corvairs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brooker Muir was ejected from the game. Chris Janzen made 50 saves for the Jr. Canadians on 54 shots. Welland incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
