Reinhart stymies Brampton, Elmira wins 5-1

The Elmira Sugar Kings relied on the sparkling performance of Jonathan Reinhart in net to grab a 5-1 win against the Brampton Bombers.

Brampton's power play was ineffective against Elmira's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Sugar Kings were sparked by Mitch Wright, who racked up one goal. Wright scored 14:58 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Elmira. Adam Brubacher assisted on the tally.

Elmira's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Brampton power plays. The Sugar Kings forced the Bombers goalie Scott Patton to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Elmira's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Elmira also got points from Brubacher, who also registered two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Elmira also got a goal from Steven Jakiela as well. In addition, Elmira received assists from Craig Johnson, who had two and Justin Cooke, Alex Mutton, Brad Kobryn, Adam Campagnolo, MacKenzie Carter(APJ), and Matt Harding, who contributed one a piece.

Brampton was led by Christian Mariconda (APM), who scored the team's only goal. Mariconda (APM) scored 17:42 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Elmira. Tyler Simmons picked up the assist.

Reinhart rejected 29 shots on goal for the Sugar Kings. Elmira totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For the Sugar Kings, Brett Parsons was ejected from the game. Scott Patton made 34 saves for the Bombers on 39 shots. Brampton ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Bombers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Johnathan Kreis was ejected from the game.
