The Fort Erie Meteors tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Welland Jr. Canadians held on for a 4-3 victory. A goal by Jack Fitzgerald put Welland up 4-2 in the third period, but Fort Erie pulled to within one on Nik Passero's tally 14:16 into the third period. The Jr. Canadians' penalty kill excelled, as Welland gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. Jason Lacroix also scored for Welland. In addition, Welland received assists from Miller Hatten, who had two and Jonathan Goldsworthy, Tanner Allen, Patrick Desjardins, JC Thivienge, and Matthew Mateljan, who contributed one a piece. The Meteors forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Fort Erie had been averaging 22.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Meteors were helped by Jesse Pereira, who finished with one goal and one assist. Pereira scored 1:42 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Fort Erie. Jared Marino provided the assist. Fort Erie also got points from Passero, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Fort Erie also got a goal from Braden Kavaratzis as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Erie were Josh Micallef and Carson Johnstone, who each chipped in one. Liam Conway rejected 26 shots on goal for the Jr. Canadians. Welland totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play. The Jr. Canadians ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Lacroix was ejected from the game. Brett Gilmour made 26 saves for Fort Erie on 30 shots. For the Meteors, Austin Carroll was ejected from the game.
