Stratford shrugs off penalties, upends Brantford, 4-0Allman Arena Fri, Nov 15, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Stratford Cullitons were able to defeat the Brantford 99ers, 4-0. Stratford was sparked by Pat McKelvie(APJ), who finished with one goal. McKelvie(APJ) scored 19:25 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Stratford. Josh Miller provided the assist. The Cullitons forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 12 minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. Stratford surpassed its season average of 28.0 penalty minutes per game. The Cullitons made Brantford's goaltenders to work between the pipes, ripping 50 shots and forcing 46 saves. Marcus Del Conte made 40 stops and Andre Keire made six. Stratford stifled the 99ers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Carter Allen also scored for Stratford. In addition, Stratford received assists from Maverick Petrie, Jordan Currie, Dylan Wettlaufer, and Trevor Sauder, who contributed one a piece. Brantford racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 13 minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game the 99ers had been spending in the box. Brantford's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 10 Stratford power plays. The 99ers could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Brantford puts an average of 2.5 pucks into the net per game. Nick Caldwell rejected 20 shots on goal for the Cullitons. Stratford ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tyson Baker was ejected from the game. The 99ers registered zero goals on nine power play opportunities. For Brantford, Alex Deluce was ejected from the game.
