Waterloo holds on for 4-2 win against ListowelListowel Arena Fri, Nov 15, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Listowel Cyclones tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Waterloo Siskins held on for a 4-2 victory. A goal by Luke Gazzola put Waterloo up 4-0 in the second period, but Listowel pulled to within two on Kenny Huether's tally 18:30 into the third period. Evan Kearns had two goals to lead the Siskins to victory. Kearns found the back of the net 44 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Waterloo and again while on the power play 11:03 into the second to make the score 3-0 Waterloo. Waterloo put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Cyclones to score on any of their six power plays. The Siskins forced Listowel goalie Tanner Topham to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Waterloo also got points from Ryan Taylor, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Waterloo came via Eric Cimino, Troy Lajeunesse, Christian Mroczkowski, Evan Buehler, Joshua Defarias, Dalton Hnatko, and Danny Hanlon, who contributed one a piece. The Cyclones kept Waterloo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Hergott made 32 saves on 34 shots. Mac Nichol also scored for Listowel. In addition, Listowel received assists from Chad Lemire, who had one. The Siskins incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tanner Topham made 27 saves for Listowel on 31 shots. The Cyclones incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
