Shaw lifts Leamington over LaSalle, 5-2

The Leamington Flyers relied on the scoring touch of Kyle Shaw, who netted two goals, to beat the LaSalle Vipers, 5-2.

Shaw's tallies came on the power play at 1:10 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Leamington and on the power play 13:11 into the third to make the score 4-2 Leamington.

Leamington kept LaSalle's goalie busy throughout the game, and Cameron Zanussi made 32 saves on 37 shots. The Flyers was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play. Leamington's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Flyers finished with 24 penalty minutes.

Leamington also got a goal from Alex Seguin as well. In addition, Leamington received assists from Chris Scott, who had two and Jacob McGhee, David Dalby, Jared Dennis, Mitchell Amante, Kyle Quick, Daniel Robertson, and Dylan Seguin, who contributed one a piece.

The Vipers were held below their usual level of production. LaSalle puts an average of 5.1 pucks into the net per game.

The Vipers were helped by Dylan Denomme, who racked up one goal and one assist. Denomme scored on the power play 6:21 into the third period to make the score 2-2. LaSalle had taken the advantage when Leamington's Seguin got sent off for high sticking. Nathan Savage picked up the assist. LaSalle also got points from Savage, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for LaSalle were Austin Hall and Devon Paliani, who each chipped in one.

Austyn Roudebush recorded 26 saves for the Flyers. Team's Blaine Bechard and Tony Spidalieri were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Vipers totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-7 on the power play. For LaSalle, Blake Jones and Bryce Mayea were ejected from the contest.
