Luchuk nets hat trick, leads LaSalle to 9-3 win over St. Marys

A hat trick by Aaron Luchuk was the highlight in Vipers' 9-3 win against the St. Marys Lincolns.

Luchuk's first goal came 7:09 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:56 into the third and at 13:02 into the third.

The LaSalle Vipers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. LaSalle forced St. Marys goalie Connor Hughes to work between the pipes, taking 61 shots. The Vipers outdid their season average for goals scored. LaSalle has scored at the pace of 5.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

LaSalle additionally got points from Blake Jones, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Nathan Savage, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Bryce Mayea, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Dylan Denomme, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Austin Hall also scored for LaSalle. Other players who recorded assists for LaSalle were Paolo Battisti and Andrew Burns, who each chipped in one and Brett Langlois, Daniel Beaudoin, and Devon Paliani, who contributed two a piece.

The Lincolns kept the Vipers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Battisti made 37 saves on 40 shots. St. Marys' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Lincolns finished with 36 penalty minutes.

St. Marys was led by Ocean Check, who tallied one goal and one assist. Check scored 13:04 into the second period to make the score 5-2 LaSalle. Braydon Blight provided the assist. St. Marys also got a goal from Mike Siddall as well. In addition, St. Marys received assists from Naus Max, Nico Giannantonio, and Colin Nancekinell, who each chipped in one.

LaSalle totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 3-for-7 on the power play. For the Vipers, Brendan McCann was ejected from the game. Connor Hughes made 52 saves for the Lincolns on 61 shots.
