London holds on for 5-4 win against ChathamChatham Memorial Arena Sun, Nov 10, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The London Nationals survived a determined comeback attempt by the Chatham Maroons on the way to a 5-4 win. A goal by Tristen Elie put London up 5-1 in the third period, but Chatham pulled to within one on Kyle Brothers's tally 12:42 into the third period. Elie was all over the ice for the Nationals, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Elie scored on the power play 5:50 into the third period to make the score London. London had gained a power play chance when Brothers was whistled for tripping. Matt Fuller provided the assist. London additionally got points from Ryan Shipley, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Austin Kemp, who also racked up one goal and one assist. London also got a goal from Scott Lombardi as well. In addition, London received assists from Mark Gazdic, Jonathan Sims, and Jeff Bauer, who each chipped in one. The Maroons forced the Nationals goalie Jacob Riley to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Chatham also got points from Tanner Ferguson, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points and Adam Arseneault, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Chatham were John Montgomery and Ian Faubert, who contributed one a piece. London's Riley stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Nationals incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Chatham took out Darien Ekblad after he had made 16 saves and installed Brendan Johnston in goal, where he finished with six saves and the loss. The Maroons incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
