Caledonia penalty kill dominates in 4-1 defeat of AncasterMorgan Firestone Sat, Nov 09, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Caledonia Corvairs were able to defeat the Ancaster Avalanche, 4-1. Caledonia was sparked by Matt Quilty, who registered one goal. Quilty scored on the power play 38 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-0 Caledonia. Cosimo Fontana picked up the assist. The Corvairs stifled Ancaster's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Caledonia kept the Avalanche's goalie busy throughout the game, and Blake Richard made 50 saves on 54 shots. Caledonia also got points from Connor Murphy, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Fontana, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Brooker Muir also scored for Caledonia. Other players who recorded assists for Caledonia were Cody Brown, who had two and Ryan Moran, Spencer Gourlay, Ryan Blunt, and Kyler Nixon, who contributed one a piece. Ancaster could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Avalanche average 3.3 goals per game. Ancaster was led by Cole Nagy, who scored the team's only goal. Nagy scored 5:55 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Caledonia. Ryan Lewis assisted on the tally. Colin Furlong recorded 22 saves for the Corvairs. Caledonia incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Avalanche incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
