Behind a great game by Keli Grant, who had two goals and one assist, the Kitchener Dutchmen defeated the Guelph Hurricanes, 3-0. Grant's tallies came at 17:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kitchener and on the power play 11:59 into the second to make the score 2-0 Kitchener.Kitchener was boosted by Marc Williams, who turned in a shutout with 25 saves. Williams managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.53 prior to the game. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 21 seconds into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts. The Dutchmen excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. More assists for Kitchener came via Brett Clampitt, Keegan Calder, Mitchell Dempsy, and Chris Eckert, who each chipped in one. The Hurricanes' offense operated below they season average. Guelph averages 3.1 goals per game. The Dutchmen totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Team's Clampitt and Clayton Greer were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Hurricanes' Stormer Santana stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Guelph ended with 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors and two majors. The Hurricanes ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Zach McFadden was ejected from the game.
