Strathroy outlasts Sarnia, 4-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Strathroy Rockets escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Sarnia Legionnaires.

Strathroy gained the winning advantage on a goal by Wes Baker 11:57 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Baker was all over the ice for the Rockets, as he finished with two goals in the win.

Strathroy's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Sarnia power plays. Sarnia was unable to stop the Rockets from sending pucks towards the net, and Strathroy eventually piled up 44 shots on goal.

Strathroy also got points from Chase Thornton, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Kirk Dorman also scored for Strathroy. Other players who recorded assists for Strathroy were Shawn Grogan, who had three and Jordan DaSilva, Jack Kilgour, Tony Belony, and Andrew Martin, who each chipped in one.

The Legionnaires stifled the Rockets' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Sarnia kept Strathroy's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jack Moylan made 34 saves on 37 shots.

The Legionnaires were helped by Nathan Mater, who registered one goal. Mater scored 17:23 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Josh Kestner picked up the assist. Sarnia additionally got points from Kestner, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Sarnia also got a goal from Ryan Vendramin as well. More assists for Sarnia came via Jay Clarke, Jordan Fogarty, Hayden Allen, and Thomas Moxley, who contributed one a piece.

The Rockets incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jake Danson made 40 saves for Sarnia on 44 shots. The Legionnaires incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
